"WE CARE" BOXES TO SOLDIERS

Our Mission/Evangelism & Human Care Boards send care packages to the soldiers we pray for each week.  Items needed: letters with photos of people or pets, magazines, drink mixes, microwave foods, baby wipes, Hickory Farms sausage, Hostess "anything", comedy DVDs, fig newtons, Combos snacks, gummi bears, M&Ms, paperback books, chapstick, Goldfish crackers, chapstick.  We use Flat Rate Priority P.O. boxes with Mission/Evangelism paying the postage.  Bring your donations to church and place on the "Support Our Troops" cabinet in the Fellowship Hall.

COMMUNITY RESPITE CARE

Christus Victor Lutheran Church offers "Senior Day Out" on Wednesdays from 9 AM to 1 PM through their Community Respite Care Center.  The cost is $15 per session.  This community program is designed to nurture older adults cognitively, physically, and spiritually.  It also benefits caregivers as a day off from their caregiving responsibilities.  For more information contact Sara Sondergaard at sara.sondergaard@comcast.net.

NANCY'S PROJECT

This community service project was conceived in 2009 by a LCHS member who is herself a cancer patient, and found that the leaves of the aloe vera plant provided the best relief for the burns caused by her radiation treatments.  The LCHS Youth have taken on Nancy's project, and provide funding and care for many aloe vera plants which inhabit the windows of the youth room.  The plants are donated to the Cancer Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove Village, to provide some relief to those receiving radiation treatments for this disease. Our thoughts and prayers go out to these patients.
